But I'm sure they replace defective parts like power supplies and memory. I've never bought from Dell Refurbished because the items are too old, and the prices are not that great compared to something current from the Outlet with a good discount code! Given how Dell works, I doubt they replace cases - you get it like it was returned to them. Sometimes it's barely noticeable, other times, well, you can't miss it. Sometimes dirty fans, dirty screens, etc.
And Dell doesn't refurbish like Apple does. Certified Refurbished they claim are items that are practically new, but that is not true. Occasionally, there are units with tiny scratches, and such, but never things like worn keyboards or palm rests. Most items you cannot tell the difference. These are priced higher than Certified Refurbished, which is mostly new-looking and almost like new. Outlet New is just that - new, never used equipment that was returned to Dell unopened. The Outlet has three categories - Outlet New, Certified Refurbished, and Scratch and Dent. I'd say a 98% satisfaction, hence why I keep buying there.

So Dell takes back these older systems when the leases are up and sell them off.but do note the max warranty & support as most Dell systems if purchased new would have up to 60 months warranty, but refurbished would have max of 36 months (being that max Dell would keep parts is 72 months for most Enterprise models).īut if you are looking for refurbished PC and lappy, do have a look at the warranty and if possible choose i7s and SSDs.these would not really slow down the machines as compared to their i5 and SATA "brothers" of the similar model range.

Dell refurbished is Dell's financing division (think lease equipment) which sells these off-lease computers which are a few generations old.
